Anxiety and Depression seem to be on the rise. Many experts I’ve talked to on the podcast agree.
.
.
Here are three lifestyle shifts you can make to protect yourself against anxiety and depression.
.
.
Movement: A Harvard University Study shows that exercise works as well or better than anti-depressants for some people. Really what it boils down to is movement. It can be walking, yoga, running or any kind of activity as long as you are moving.
.
.
Minerals: I get my minerals in everyday. Sometimes I put them in a smoothie other days I take’em straight up!
.
.
A Washington Post article states that getting more minerals into your diet has an affect on mood. “Researchers have found that calcium, magnesium, chromium, folate, iron, omega 3’s, B6, B12, vitamin d and zinc are all nutrients that combat depression”.
.
.
Mindset: Tending to your thoughts is a crucial part of staying healthy. Staying immersed in a positive mindset requires diligence. Make time everyday to read, listen or have growth conversations about positive things that you are doing or want to do. Be intentional about keeping negative thoughts at bay by replacing them with content that lifts you up. Plug into a community that is uplifting. Look to others for inspiration and let that fill you up.
