You don’t need expensive gadgets, gear or prescriptions to start making health a priority.

What you do need is to really WANT to FEEL good.

It’s surprising but there are people that do not want to feel good.
.
They may say they want to but they just aren’t able to get their actions to match their words.
.
For these people something bigger is in need of healing. It keeps them from making their health the top priority. Without health we have nothing.
It really has to be the top priority most of the time. Why wouldn’t anyone want to preserve their health?
.
For some there is underlying pain that they are not yet willing to heal. Making our physical form the problem is a distraction from a bigger problem that lurks underneath.
.
Most of the time people don’t know what the underlying problem is until they start digging to figure it out. A useful tool is to track our behavior loops.
.
For Example, Jane works from home. Jane has anxiety about the amount of work she has to do. Because she feels anxious she avoids it. She watches movies, snacks and scrolls social media and then realizes she’s gotten nothing done all day. Jane has more anxiety about this so she decides to make a big meal for dinner.

Behavior loop

Trigger: amount of work
Response: anxiety
Reaction: distract with food
Reward: avoids the work
.
Why doesn’t Jane just do the work? Jane’s stuck in a behavior loop. One action feeds the other. It’s easy to see as an outsider but not so easy when you’re Jane.
.
Jane hasn’t made time to physically exert stored energy like worry. She loses sleep thinking about work. She tells herself she doesn’t have time for healthy living because she has so much work.
.
Jane is in need of lifestyle changes. Jane does not recognize that she is stuck in a behavior loop. What will happen to Jane? We don’t know because Jane is fictional but now we know how to spot a behavioral loop.
.
Getting stuck in a loop happens to all of us from time to time. It’s ok. The important part is to recognize it and then start taking the best therapies.
